At the Cannes Film Festival, many Indian celebrities graced the red carpet, making the country proud. Here are some Indian stars who stood out at Cannes 2024, showcasing their incredible work and undeniable talent.

1. Nancy Tyagi This fashion influencer from a humble background wowed the prestigious Cannes red carpet in a gown she stitched herself. Born and raised in Uttar Pradesh, Nancy began designing clothes to support her mother, who worked in a coal factory.

Today, Nancy has become well-known for her ability to recreate pop outfits from scratch. On being asked about her design and dress, she has this to say: “I poured my heart and soul into creating this pink gown, which took 30 days, 1,000 metres of fabric, and weighed over 20 kg. The journey has been intense, but every moment was worth it”.

2. Ratna Pathak Shah Ratna Pathak Shah graced the red carpet with Naseeruddin Shah for the screening of ‘Manthan’ — a groundbreaking film crowdfunded by over 3.6 million Indian dairy farmers!

Ratna wore a saree from her personal collection, paired with a custom-made lavender-hued blue blouse. According to an India Times report, “The blouse, intricately handwoven from recycled cotton and plant dye, added a touch of eco-conscious fashion to her ensemble.”

3. Ankush Bahuguna A popular beauty influencer and content creator on Instagram, Ankush Bahuguna became the first male beauty influencer from India to walk the carpet.

He wore a tuxedo designed by an Indian designer Rohitash Notani. The standout feature in his outfit was a black ornate bloom.

4. Payal Kapadia Payal Kapadia is all set to walk the red carpet for her film ‘All We Imagine as Light’, which is competing for the top honour at Cannes — the Palme d’Or.

5. Chhaya Kadam Another Indian making her debut at the festival and being celebrated for more reasons than one is Chhaya Kadam.

She is not only a part of the movie ‘All We Imagine As Light’, but Chhaya also recently won hearts with her phenomenal performance as ‘Manju Mai’ in the movie ‘Laapataa Ladies’. She said in an interview, “I am very happy. This is a beautiful moment in my life and I am enjoying it without thinking too much about what’s next.”
