Did you know? In India, 10 million girls are at the risk of dropping out of schools because of the impact of COVID-19? With millions who have already dropped out, this pandemic has had an enormous effect on the education of girls.

#PromptHerNow is a campaign launched by The Better India, alongside Population Foundation of India (PFI), to address socio-cultural factors contributing to an increased dropout rate and to highlight the work of those who are fighting to reverse this situation.

Through this campaign, we bring you stories of resilience, courage and hope. Following are the stories of individuals and organisations that aim to bring girls back to schools across India, and those of girls who are fighting to make education their priority.

Young girls from marginalised communities of India have been among the many severely affected victims of the ongoing pandemic. Their ambitions, dream, and educational progress — everything came to a rude stop as soon as COVID-19 forced them to stay at home. Will they ever be able to get back? Who are the individuals and organisations fighting day in and out to give them the education they truly deserve? And how could you help?
